Armidale Family Support Service (AFSS) is a non-government, not for profit organisation that assists all families with dependent children. AFSS is funded by the Community Services and the community. AFSS staff assist families with parenting and living skills, emotional support, accessing other services and advocacy. The AFSS staff work with families to achieve goals such as:

  • Improving family relationships
  • Parenting skills
  • Living with more stability and less crisis
  • Feeling better about themselves
  • Making new friends
  • Finding better housing
  • Obtaining information on education, drug, alcohol or legal issues
  • Sorting out money worries

Guyra Family Support Service helps families with children, aged birth to 8 years, through difficult times. Professional staff are able to visit at the family home or an alternative location. A supported playgroup is held each Tuesday of the school term in the Transition Room at Guyra Central School from 10-12. This is a free service for families.

Boongaiai Preschool is a community based Steiner Preschool caring for a maximum 20 children per day.
