There are many wonderful sites and interesting places to go in the Gwydir Shire. The natural geological wonders of the Gwydir Shire are well known for many things from the diamond and gold mines to unusual rock formations.

The Gwydir Shire is steeped in history and you will find many heritage listed buildings and attractions throughout the Shire. There is no excuse for inactivity in the Gwydir Shire as there is something for everyone whether they prefer a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Gwydir River or a more active climb up to the Batterham Lookout.

There are also numerous sporting activities available in the Shire such as horse riding, fishing, football, golf and water skiing in the Copeton Waters.
