Moree Plains hosts the richest agricultural production area in Australia and local crops include cotton, wheat, barley, canola and sunflowers. Permanent crops such as citrus fruit, olives and pecan nuts as well as livestock operations are also part of the mix. Importantly, there are downstream processing facilities such as cotton gins and an oilseed processing plant that
provide year-round employment opportunities. This, combined with many local diversified businesses help provide the backbone to an extremely vibrant local economy which is more than happy to support newcomers to the area seeking opportunities.

The Moree Plains Shire Council (MPSC) is proud to sponsor The Moree Gateway Project and says it is a clear statement that the town and shire are open for business. Located adjacent to the Moree airport and south of the Moree bypass, this development will be the new gateway to the town. The Gateway site will comprise a number of precincts that include bulky goods, vehicle services and showrooms, food, light industrial, tourism, accommodation and a transport hub and service centre. The offering at the site is designed to complement and support the already existing retail, commercial and business offerings in the centre of Moree.

Supporting the development is a robust business sector, enthusiastic community and a forward thinking Council. The Moree Gateway will provide extensive economic and employment benefits to the Moree Plains and the wider region. The Moree Plains are a great place to do business, boasting significant open space and land availability, quality water supply, excellent transport and freight links and a supportive business community.
